Bring Your Own iPad to CHS

Bring Your Own iPad to CHS!

For further information, please read the BYO iPad Frequently Asked Questions or contact Kara Evans, Technology Teacher on Special Assignment.

What Devices are Recommended for BYOiPad?

What is an acceptable device for BYO iPad?

For management, security, and equivalent classroom experiences, iPads must be able to support iOS 10.3.2 or newer. Recommended devices include:

  • iPad (the latest generation)
  • iPad Pro
  • iPad Air or Air 2
  • iPad Mini 3 or 4

Devices must have at least 32 GB of storage. Devices should not have 3G/4G capabilities.

If I don’t already own an iPad for my student, what purchasing options exist?

BYO participation is entirely voluntary. If families choose to participate and want to purchase a device, iPads can be purchased directly from any electronics vendor (Apple, Best Buy, Costco, New Egg, Target, etc). Most vendors also offer refurbished options at a reduced price.

CUSD does not endorse any one vendor over another and buyers should beware of how long older equipment may be able to support operating system updates.

How to Participate in BYO iPad

  1. Submit a signed BYO Acceptable Use Policy. Forms can either be submitted electronically during summer registration or on paper in the library during the school year.
  2. Wait at least two business days after submitting the enrollment form for your device to be added to the network. Only devices with whitelisted MAC addresses and serial numbers are permitted on the network.
  3. Once on campus, add your iPad to the BYO student network. Watch the video below to walk you through the steps.

  4. Register to receive apps from CUSD. Watch the video below to walk you through the steps.

  5. Once you have installed the wifi and app profiles, we will add your iPad to the system and appropriate classes so that you receive apps. Please allow 24 hours for this process to be completed.

Need Help Enrolling?

Technicians will be available in person during August registration! Complete your forms in online registration and bring your iPad on your in-person registration date.
