Principal's Message

Welcome to the 2014-15 school year.

There are many wonderful programs at CHS.  We continue to offer our Honors classes for 9th and 10th grader students as well as AVID, a college readiness program. For our 11th and 12th grader students we offer 15 Advanced Placement courses, and this is our sixth year as an International Baccalaureate World (IB) school.  Our IB program offers rigorous courses with an international perspective that aims at developing inquiring, knowledgeable students, who will help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.

In the area of Career Technical Education, some classes we offer on site are Engineering Drawing, Architectural Drafting, Virtual Enterprise (in-school entrepreneurship program and global business simulation that empowers students to unleash their potential through creating and managing business ventures and trading with other virtual firms nationally), Stage Design and Technology and Sports Medicine.

Additionally, this is our second year offering the International Baccalaureate Career-related Certificate (IBCC).  The IBCC allows students to move on to higher education, progress to community colleges, further education and/or go directly into employment.

CHS has a long history of excellence as an institution of teaching and learning, in an environment where all students have the opportunity to develop and excel academically, athletically, emotionally and socially. I am certain that the actions of students and staff during the 2014-15 school-year will continue to add to this tradition

Sincerely,

Brett O’Connor, Ed.D. Principal
